I read a lot of memoirs. In fact, four of the last ten books I read were memoirs. Most recently I devoured Delancy: A Man, a Woman, a Restaurant, a Marriage by Molly Wizenberg, Grace After Midnightt by Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, and Sous Chef by Michael Gibney, three very different books. I enjoy getting lost in other people's stories and more often than not find true life even more fascinating than fiction. What memoir or biography have you read recently that you enjoyed?

I really enjoyed Yes, Chef by Marcus Samuelsson. He was born in Ethiopia, raise in Sweden then moved to the U.S. He really thought out what he was doing and what he should be doing to help others.
I read the two memoirs by Jennifer Boylan, who was born James Boylan and suffered for years as a transgendered young man who wondered what was wrong with himself. He courageously underwent sex change surgery in his 30's or 40's -- can't remember which. Both "She's Not There" and "I'm Looking Through You" are great reads and opened my understanding of what it's like to be transgender.
